Inspired for change

In 2019, Rana founded the AMAR Ashti Choir and is being supported by the AMAR Foundation, a British based charity. Several women in the choir were ISIS captives and others have lost family members. The choir has performed in the U.K and AMAR has also recorded Yazidi folk songs and religious music, and given these to the Oxford’s Bodleian Library to archive for future generations.

It’s great news from Wood Street Mission and the Books Forever Appeal! In 2023, WSM distributed over 20,200 books to disadvantaged young people across Manchester and thanks to support from the public, it’s brilliant that each child gets to take books home to keep. Through such acts of kindness, you are helping to overcome barriers that children in low-income families face.

Learning from Anne Frank and the Holocaust, the Anne Frank Trust UK empowers young people aged 9 to 15 to challenge all forms of prejudice. Founded in 1991, they have over 30 years of experience in education. Through their schools based programmes, young people gain the knowledge, motivation and skills to make a real difference.
