It was Charles W. Eliot who stated that “Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.” Braille is universal and available in every language in the world.
It is currently used by six million blind people around the world.
While the first hieroglyphs appeared in Egypt around 3,000 BCE, blind people had to wait almost another four millennia, before Louis Braille invented his writing system for them in 1825.
